Liquor inflammabilis incolor, pellucidus vel pallide flavus. Odor fortis et acris est. Miscibilis cum aethanolo (decompositione), diethyleno glycolo, aethere, acetone, carbonio tetrachlorido, benzeno, chlorobenzeno, keroseno, et oleo olivae.
1. Praeparatur per reactionem 2,4-diaminotolueni et phosgeni. Primo, diaminotoluenum solidum in benzeno chlorinato dissolvendum est, et ad 70°C sub agitatione calefaciendum est, ut solutio diaminotolueni chlorobenzeni obtineatur. Phosgenatum benzeni oxidum recuperatum in ollam phosgeni temperaturae humilis immittitur et certa quantitas liquidi lucis additur. Post gasificationem, guttas solutionis diaminotolueni praeparatae ex Chemicalbook adde, sub agitatione, phosgenationem ad 40°C perficite, deinde materiam phosgenationis temperaturae humilis in ollam temperaturae altae ad phosgenationem altae temperaturae immittendam, et sub calefactione aere subeundum, per horas circiter 4, reactio plerumque ad 120~125°C perficitur; post reactionem perfectam, nitrogenio purgando, distillando, et rectificando obtinetur.
